“We’re calling this decision by the government an assault on inured workers,” said Ontario Federation of Labour president Patty Coates.
Under the terms of the program, companies convicted of offences, such as injury claim fraud, will be barred from receiving rebates. Employers convicted of serious offences under provincial safety laws since 2021 and those with more than one conviction since 2017, will be ineligible. But that criteria will disqualify fewer than 300 companies across the entire province, according to data requested by the Star.”
